The difficulty

Why this existed as a problem

People were taking site photos that looked fine on the phone and useless later. Without a stamp for place, time, and coordinates, an inspection, a property visit, or a delivery dispute had no visual proof.

A standard camera roll hides or drops place and time. Field teams then reconstruct evidence after the visit — or cannot reconstruct it at all.

The story behind MapSeal

MapSeal started from that gap. Field work, construction, property, and travel already produce photos. What they rarely produce is a record that still answers where and when after the person has left the site. We built a GPS camera that stamps address, coordinates, a mini map, date, time, and accuracy into the photo or video as it is taken. The positioning is useful visual proof — not a GIS desktop and not a social map.

How we worked

The strategy was a native Android camera, not a gallery filter applied afterwards. Capture-time stamping, customisable footer content, photo and video on the same screen, and a gallery organised by date. Location permissions are there for the stamp, not for an unrelated tracking product. That camera, location, and media work is also how we talk about custom field applications: start from a real capture job, then add workflow, upload, and reporting if the client needs them.

Where it stands

MapSeal is live on Google Play as MapSeal: GPS Map Camera. It is a recently launched first-party product. We do not publish invented install counts. The store listing and the stamped capture itself are the proof.

The product in detail

MapSeal exists for work that depends on proof of place: field documentation, construction and property visits, inspections, deliveries, travel, and everyday location records. A picture without where and when is only a picture. MapSeal writes that context into the capture. On Google Play it ships as MapSeal: GPS Map Camera. You can customise the stamp — address, latitude and longitude, mini map, date and time, GPS accuracy, and branding — and switch between photo and video from the camera screen. Camera controls include flash, front and rear cameras, grid, photo timer, video audio preference, and a 24-hour time option. Captures stay in an organised gallery you can review by date. Does MapSeal replace a professional GIS suite?: No. MapSeal is a GPS camera product. It captures place-aware media; it is not a mapping desktop or GIS analysis tool.
Why does the app ask for location?: Location is used for coordinates, address, accuracy, and the mini map on the stamp. Review the Play Data Safety section for the current permission list.
