Why this existed as a problem

Explaining a bug, teaching a flow, or recording a demo meant wrestling with a stock recorder that could not show a face, or with a studio app that demanded an account before a single take.

Built-in screen recorders are limited, and heavy studio apps are more than most people need for a clear walkthrough with a face and a voice.

The story behind Recora

Recora started from that friction. Developers, educators, and support people already know what they want to show. They needed screen, microphone, and an optional Facecam in one control — offline, on the device, without creating a profile. We built a recorder that stays on the phone. The positioning is smooth recording for tutorials, demos, and communication. Videos remain local unless the person chooses to share them.

How we worked

The strategy was a native Android media product with a floating control, configurable quality, and a simple gallery. No cloud library in version one, because the job is capture, not a social video network. Microphone narration is treated as the dependable audio path; internal audio is documented as device-dependent. That same media stack — screen capture, camera overlay, encoding, local storage — is the starting point when a client needs a custom recorder, a training tool, or a visual bug-report flow.
